Questions about Savvy Minerals or Young Living products? Send me a message! Enjoy! XOXO When I heard that Young Living was releasing a line of Savvy Minerals liquid foundations and concealers, I was instantly pumped! I’ve been loving all of the Savvy Minerals products more and more this past year, but being the type to usually do a medium-full coverage make up look, I just always wanted a little more! These products are amazing! The foundation gives great coverage, but still feels lightweight! It leaves a dewy finish, but if that isn’t your preference, it also works with the original Savvy Minerals Powders to give a more matte finish! The concealer also gives perfect coverage and blends in so well with the foundation! Check out my first impression using both of these products, along with integrating my other Savvy Minerals make up products to give a bit of a tutorial on application! Check out how to use the Beachwaver Braid Balm mentioned in my current beauty favorites! In this hair tutorial, I demonstrate how to use this product (along with a few other Beachwaver products) and how to do Dutch Braids and Top Knot hairstyles! Enjoy! My everyday makeup and beauty routine has changed pretty drastically over the past two years! I used to be a full face of makeup everyday kind of girl, but since being a stay at home mom of three boys ages 4 and under, I rarely even have time to shower on a daily basis! Enter the essential beauty items found in this post! These items are key to my getting ready process in my now everyday basic beauty regimen. These items make life just a little easier and quicker while not compromising on a great finish! Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara This mascara is a game-changer! I had heard good reviews and seen many ads for it, but didn’t actually try it out until around Christmas when I received it as a gift! Boy, do I wish I had tried it sooner! This mascara is perfection—it is a little on the “wet” side when it comes to mascara formulas, but once it is applied, it lengthens, darkens and separates your lashes impeccably! It is not a formula that you can layer, so once it dries, it needs to be left alone, but the good news is that it doesn’t run! Instead, it comes off easily by just wiping down your lashes with a cloth without the mess!. To top it off, the Orchid Stem cell Complex helps stimulate and support longer, healthier lashes over time and all of Thrive Causemetics products are vegan, cruelty free, paraben free & sulfate free! Young Living Savvy Minerals Foundation Anyone who knew me prior to my stay at home days knows that i never went anywhere without my full-coverage liquid foundation! And while that is still my go-to for a night out or some time of event, my new everyday foundation is the Young Living Savvy Minerals Foundation! (I use shade Warm 3) It is a mineral powder foundation, can be light to medium coverage and is buildable! My favorite way to wear it is over my Tarte Shape Tape concealer (I use the shade Light Sand) that does the "heavier duty" but quick coverage under my eyes and in all the highlight areas. This foundation is very lightweight, feels like there is no make up on your skin, but gives a great blurring effect to make your skin look naturally smooth and clear! You don’t have to use much product either, so the lifetime on this product is well worth what you pay for! Young Living's products are some of the cleanest (paraben-free, sulfate-free, talc-free, etc) products you can find, which is definitely something I have been striving for in my beauty regimen! I’ve also been a Young Living member for several years, so if you need some guidance with any of their products or becoming a member as well, be sure to contact me! Beachwaver Braid Balm You guys...This. Stuff. Is. BOMB! When I DO get a chance to wash my hair, I have been throwing it into french or dutch braids, throwing a hat on and running out the door. Up until recently, I had been putting just regular hair gel in my wet or damp hair before braiding (or really just nothing in it) and getting a frizzy-type of wavy hair look when I took the braids out. Not anymore! The Beachwaver Co. is a company I’ve been loving for awhile and their braid balm is just one more reason! It takes away any frizz and gives you a beautiful wave to your hair when its time to unbraid. The balm is a liquid to foam formula and is also a paraben-free, sulfate-free, formaldehyde-free, phthalate-free, mineral oil-free, benzophenone-free & vegan product! (wow) Best yet--the company is WOMAN-OWNED! The Potempa sisters have created this amazing company and are so supportive in empowering women to be strong, independent & successful! I’ve also used their Beachwaver curling iron and heat protectant hairspray in a past post & Youtube video tutorial so be sure to check that out here! Benefit Gimme Brow I’ll admit it. I HATE doing my brows. It is my least favorite makeup step. Its stressful, time consuming, well, I just really don’t enjoy it. BUT, on a lighter makeup day I love using Benefit Gimme brow as a quick and easy fill in! Rather than using my usual pencil, the Gimme Brow formula acts similarly to the Thrive Mascara as it builds onto the existing brow hairs and makes them look more full and even. It is probably one of the easiest brow methods and yet still makes all of the difference after applying! Glow Serum DIY In keeping with finding cleaner and healthier beauty products, I’ve also taken to creating my own skin care support! Using several Young Living oils (Frankincense, Lavender, Tea Tree, Geranium, Copaiba) paired with organic Jojoba oil (Amazon) and witch hazel (Target), I’ve started making and using my own Glow Face Serum (recipe from Dani Hampton @danihamptonessentials). This serum has made such a difference in the moisture and appearance of my skin over these freezing Illinois winter months! I have combination skin, but in the winter my nose and lips get especially cracked and dry, so I usually focus the use of it on those areas and other spot treatments morning and night after cleansing and before my normal moisturizers. I love that I know exactly what is in this formula because, well, I made it! And I know that all of the products I use are well-sourced! Here’s the recipe (dropper bottle from Amazon): Also, make sure you head over to my friend Naomi's blog to check out her recent Target haul! Her blog is always full of great fashion ideas from Target, Amazon and many smaller local boutiques, too! You can check out her blog here and follow her on Instagram here
I hope you enjoyed my run-down of my current favorite beauty products! Share some of your favorites with me in the comments! Have a great week everybody! We all need a quick, easy makeup routine to both make us feel a little more put together, while also getting out the door on time! With my 3 kids under 4, this is no easy feat! I usually have at least someone here to supervise the kids while I get ready, but most of the time, I'm also doing my make up downstairs in the living room mirror while the boys run in circles around me! Check out my "everyday" running out the door make up routine in this quick tutorial! Make sure to check out my past videos if you're looking for more techniques or full-face make up look and also subscribe to my channel! For this eyeshadow look, I decided to go a little more dark and vampy than usual! You could easily wear this look for day or night time because of it being a brown smokey eye rather than using the harsher black/gray tones! I decided to use my trusty Jaclyn Hill X Morphe palette because the neutral colors are just so perfect and they are good quality shadows for a fraction of the price! Check out the YouTube video for the full tutorial and then refer back to the blog post for the condensed application instructions! Step 1: Transition Shade - Silk Creme Using a fluffy blending brush, I apply this light tan color that will serve as the transition color between the dark browns leading up to my brow bone. I blend this using windshield wiper motions from inner to outer corner. Step 2: Crease Shade - Pukey Using a denser blending brush, I put a darker tan shade, Pukey, directly in the crease and blend in the same way, but placing this color more towards the eyelid side of the crease. This will be the color we use to blend the darkest shade of brown that goes onto the lid. Step 3: Lid Shade - Central Park For the lid, I use a matte, dark brown shade called Central Park and pack this color onto my eye lid using a firm shading brush. I start in the center of the lid and gradually add more and more color until I achieve the shade that I want. I go back and blend between each step, and add more of this dark brown several times before I am happy with it! Take the time to blend out the edges of the shadows to make the look seamless! Step 4: Winged Liner - Kat Von D Tattoo Liner
Start with a diagonal line from the outer corner down to the lash line. Then, connect that line from the corner to the top of the lashes and fill in. Draw the line all the way to the inner corner. Step 5: Lower Lash Line - Abyss & Pukey Using a flat definer brush, I draw a “eyeliner” line right at the lower lash line. I then go in with a pencil brush to blow out and blend this dark shade with the tan shade to pull the eye look together. Step 6: Mascara - Maybelline Falsies Waterproof Last step is to curl your lashes and add some mascara to the top and bottom lashes! I hope you enjoyed this makeup tutorial and send me some requests for tutorials that you’d like to see in the future! Every so often, my skin is in need of a bit more than just a simple cleansing and moisturizing! For this more in-depth nighttime skincare routine, I add in a mask and few extra pampering steps to really get my skin feeling refreshed and nourished! I do switch up my skincare products every so often, but here are just the brands and products that I’ve been using recently! Check out the YouTube video linked below, and keep reading in the blog post for a list and description of each item that I use!
